Depending on the package you choose, the Jimmy Jib can be built from as small as 6ft up to a massive 30ft in length. This means the Jib is equally useful inside a small cottage as it is in the middle of stadium.
Here is some information about each length of jib including maximum lens height and the rear clearance requirements.
The longer the Jimmy Jib’s reach, the longer the back-section of the Jib becomes to act as a counterbalance. As such, different sizes of Jib require different clear working areas - this is especially important to consider when a platform is being constructed to accommodate the Jib or for seat-kills.
Below are some guidelines on the minimum working area for each Jib size (this includes the space needed for the operator).
In a studio, the use of a ped base can greatly reduce the working area required.
